EARLY VOTING HAS STARTED!!

Do not sit this one out. Several races have only Republican candidates with no challengers in the general. If you don't vote in the primary, you will not have a voice in these elections.

    February Meeting

On a personal note, I want to thank Kasi Haire for her willingness to step up and serve her community on the Agriculture Committee. Although she was not selected by a majority of the commission, she made a great impression on many of us who acknowledged her qualifications and eagerness to serve. I look forward to working with her on other ways to bring her passion and talents to our county. If you are interested in serving on a committee, please reach out to me so that we can begin the nomination process.

    HIGHLIGHTS:
    • During Public Comment, we had 26 citizens come to speak on the Election Commission Study, 5G Tower setback and Legacy Trees.
    • The Appointment of the Sheriff was deferred until March 11th so that the citizens may have the opportunity to vote for their preferred candidate.
    • The resolution to create a 1500 ft setback for cell towers from schools passed unanimously after an amendment passed (21 - Y, 2 - N, 1 - Abstain) removing residential from the original amendment. There are more proposed changes to come to improve public notice and address residential setbacks.
    • The resolution to fund a hand-marked paper ballot study was deferred in order to allow more time to understand how other counties are able to provide the ballots and to ensure the organization selected is truly nonpartisan and would be approved by the state.
    • The county growth plan was rejected and will now go back to the coordinating committee to review any additional changes from the municipalities.
