FROM THE DESK OF THE COMMISH

In honor of all the many who have fought and died for our freedom. I wanted to share the following video to remind us of why we take time to remember those who sacrificed so much so that we can live in this great country.

A Warrior's Pledge.  RONALD REAGAN

''America must win this war. Therefore I will work, I will save, I will sacrifice, I will endure, I will fight cheerfully and do my utmost, as if the issue of the whole struggle depended on me alone.''

Private Martin Treptow
Born 1/18/1894
Died 7/29/1918 - Battle of the Ourcq River

Have a Blessed Memorial Day Weekend!

NOTABLE ITEMS

May County Commissioner Meeting

·        37 Resolutions were brought to the Commission – 36 Passed, 1 Failed (Please see detail below)

School Safety

·        With the Special Session being called for in August, there is a lot of information coming in regarding what the General Assembly may or may not do.  At this point, I am working on a statement to request this special session be called off and that our state legislatures reconvene on any additional measures during the next general session once the Covenant Shooting investigation is complete.  We need to protect our Constitutional rights and avoid creating additional burdens on our law enforcement while we get to the heart of these tragic events.

·        Gov. Lee Announces Special Session on Public Safety to Begin August 21 (tn.gov)

·        Resolution 5-23-27 to purchase ES&S voting machines failed having only received 12 votes in favor of.  There was over an hour discussion during which several concerns were raised by the County Commissioners.  To see the discussion, you can go here.  Forward to about the 1:59 mark.

·        I will continue to work with the Election Commission to find the most secure way to ensure access for all Williamson County voters and that every vote is accurately accounted for.
