Meet Mary Smith

Mary Smith - Tested.Proven. Ready on Day One.

As a current County Commissioner with decades of private-sector leadership experience, Mary brings the judgment, discipline, and real-world experience to lead from the start — not learn on the job.

She is running for County Mayor to put people first, protect taxpayers, guide responsible growth, and preserve what makes Williamson County special.

Current County Commissioner Small Business Owner Corporate Leadership
The Challenge

Williamson County is at a turning point.

Traffic is stealing time from families. Rising costs are squeezing household budgets. Growth is changing the character of our community. The question is not whether Williamson County will grow. The question is whether we lead that growth responsibly.

Traffic

Families need infrastructure planning that keeps roads moving and communities connected.

Rising Costs

Taxpayers deserve disciplined budgeting and long-term decisions that protect their wallets.

Community Character

Growth should strengthen Williamson County, not erase the charm and values people love.

Proven experience.Principled leadership.

For more than 20 years, Wade and I have called Williamson County home. Our family has lived here, worked here, worshiped here, and built our life here.

Before serving in county government, Mary spent decades in the private sector overseeing complex challenges, managing multi-million-dollar budgets, and leading high-performing teams.

Today, as a County Commissioner, she is already doing the work — bringing that same discipline, accountability, and people-first mindset to local government.

Priorities

Mary’s priorities for Williamson County.

These priorities reflect the values that brought many of us to Williamson County — responsible leadership, thoughtful growth, and a commitment to the people who call this place home.

Fiscal Stewardship

Keep the Charm without Selling the Farm

Protect Williamson County’s character through smart financial decisions, disciplined debt management, and long-term stewardship that respects taxpayers.

Growth With Guardrails

People First Policies

Taking care of residents and workers

Support both the residents who call Williamson County home and the public servants who keep it running every day — including teachers, first responders, highway crews, and county employees.

Let’s shape growth — together.

I do not want the title. I want the responsibility — to listen, bring people together, and present smart, data-driven plans that protect both our quality of life and your wallet.

One lesson I learned firsthand during this past election is just how important it is for voters to do their own research. As someone who was the target of political attack ads, I know how easy it can be to hear only one side of a story. During my campaign, organizations like Defend US PAC spent significant resources on messaging that I believe misrepresented my record. That experience reinforced the importance of looking beyond campaign ads, mailers, and social media posts to examine the facts for yourself.Regardless of political affiliation, out-of-state money attempting to influence our local elections should concern all of us. Our community deserves informed voters who are willing to ask questions, seek the truth, and make decisions based on facts rather than rhetoric. As Scripture reminds us:“Test everything; hold fast what is good.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:21Our republic depends on citizens who think critically, seek truth, and vote with wisdom and discernment. ... 🇺🇸 State of the County 🇺🇸It was an honor to attend today’s State of the County Address and spend time with so many community leaders, public servants, volunteers, and friends who are committed to making Williamson County an exceptional place to live. One of the most meaningful parts of the event was seeing Memories of Honor represented. Jay Strobino shared a powerful and touching story that served as a reminder that the freedoms we enjoy today were secured through the sacrifices of brave men and women. Their mission to ensure those stories are never forgotten is one worth supporting.I also want to express my sincere gratitude to Mayor Rogers Anderson for his 40 years of dedicated service to Williamson County. Four decades of public service is an extraordinary legacy, and I thank him for his commitment to our community. As we look toward the future, may we continue to build on the strengths of our county while honoring those who have served before us. Williamson County is blessed because of the people who choose to serve, lead, and invest in this community every day.Thank you to everyone who made today a meaningful celebration of our county and the people who make it special.❤️🇺🇸💙 #WilliamsonCounty #StateOfTheCounty #MemoriesOfHonor ... Williamson Health: Comparing the ProposalsOver the past two days, many of you have reached out with thoughtful questions following the Williamson Health Board of Trustees' recommendation to pursue a sale to Ascension St. Thomas. As I continue reviewing the presentation and supporting materials, I wanted to share several of the comparison slides presented to the County Commission. While the Board has made its recommendation, I believe it's important that our community understands the information that was considered and continues asking good questions.A few items that stood out to me:• Purchase Price: Both Ascension and HCA proposed $700 million.• Capital Investment: Ascension committed $235 million over 10 years compared to $200 million from HCA.• Estimated Net Proceeds to the County: Approximately $477 million under Ascension versus $447 million under HCA, based on current estimates.• Property Tax Considerations: HCA estimates it would generate approximately $1.2 million annually in county property taxes, while Ascension instead proposed $4 million annual payments for five years in lieu of property taxes. The long-term implications of these different approaches deserve careful consideration.• Employees and Services: Both proposals commit to retaining current clinical services for at least 10 years, but there are differences in employee commitments, physician relationships, post-closing obligations, foundation funding, and escrow arrangements. These are significant decisions that will impact our community for decades. While financial considerations are important, they are only one part of the discussion. Quality of care, access to services, protection of taxpayers, employees, EMS, and the long-term health of Williamson County all deserve careful evaluation. After reviewing these comparison slides, what stands out to you:* What are the questions you believe still need to be answered?* Are there aspects of either proposal that deserve additional scrutiny?* What information do you feel is still missing before the County Commission considers this matter?Thank you to everyone who has already shared your thoughts and concerns. Your feedback helps ensure this process remains transparent and that all perspectives are considered before any final decisions are made. You can see the full 488-page packet of information provided to the County Commission here: www.votemarysmith.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/County-Commission-Packet.pdf ... Tonight, the Williamson County Board of Commissioners received a presentation from the Williamson Health Board of Trustees outlining their recommendation to sell Williamson Health to Ascension St. Thomas.📺 Watch the full presentation here:www.youtube.com/live/QRcw6DhgO4o?si=UsdpBx9nkg853KCGI am grateful for the time, effort, and thoughtful analysis that went into reaching this recommendation. I sincerely appreciate the Board of Trustees, hospital leadership, advisors, and everyone who dedicated countless hours to evaluating this important decision. At the same time, there are still many questions to be answered about the process that brought us to this point and the long-term implications of this recommendation. As a County Commissioner, I believe it is our responsibility to thoroughly understand the financial, legal, operational, and community impacts before any final decision is made.Over the coming weeks, I will be carefully reviewing the presentation and supporting materials while compiling questions to submit to legal counsel and the Board of Trustees. My goal is to ensure we are making the best decision possible for taxpayers while preserving access to high-quality, affordable healthcare for our community.Thank you to everyone who has already reached out to share your questions, concerns, and perspectives. Your input is invaluable, and I encourage others to continue the conversation. Public engagement is an important part of this process, and I look forward to hearing from more members of our community. ... See MoreSee Less
